lost & found

lost & found: a pop-up garden installation across the Swing Bridge over the River Tyne. It comprised wild areas, potager beds, a central long pathway and lawns with circular feature planting and rare views from garden perspective on a bridge.

inspiration: imagining people finding a lost garden over the Tyne, perhaps planned by the engineer of the bridge William Armstrong (also an estate owner and naturalist).

commission: the Bridges Festival was funded by Newcastle & Gateshead Initiative in 2011 and involved tens of volunteers from across the region.
